On this special day (April Fools Day). I had the opportunity to photography my friend's newborn, who only recently started breathing in the air of this magnificent earth with his own two lungs. At first I thought that it was just going to be a joke, since was is on April Fools. I was ready to be greeted with a "APRIL FOOLS!" and laughter. Thankfully that wasn't true haha. I began setting up immediately after arriving. I would consider this shoot to be the most I have brought so far. I brought my camera + 50mm, tether cable, flashes, Softbox + stand, backdrop stands + clamps, Macbook + Hard drive, bean bag, multiple super soft blankets, and Ikea sheep rugs.
Little Levi being ~2 weeks early, I was still hoping for a Michelin tires baby (hehe). He was as precious as can be. Still taking in the world, being enchanted by Amanda Cook's "Starlight". I started photographing him when he is awake, because I wanted some natural poses and grins. Most of the pictures were just him staring at the camera, or staring into the air, but I did capture a grin, which made my day.
During his feeding/sleeping time, I photographed his sleeping bear that plays soothing sleeping sounds. This bear definitely works, because I could feel myself falling asleep.
He finally fell asleep, which means it was "go time" :). For the first pose, we wanted to try wrapping him in a blanket so only his head poked out. He looked so relaxed and comfortable.
Little Levi woke up after this pose, so there was a bit of downtime while Levi had a part 2 of feeding/sleeping. We used a wrap next as a prop. I had the idea of using the wrap to imitate a umbilical cord. I definitely could have added to that idea, so i'll keep that in mind for my next shoot. I especially liked the little beanie that said "Little man". I thought that was really cute and added a nice touch to the photos.
Overall, even though this took about 5 hours to complete this shoot, most of the time was waiting for Little Levi to get milk wasted and fall asleep. It gave me a lot of time to catch up with the Liaos and ponder the amount of love and patience you need/acquire during this new season. Aside from the fact that if you forget one thing you would face jail time (LOL). This shoot has showed me that when my time to raise the next generation comes, it will highlight the best of who I am so far and the worst I will ever be in this life. For now, I will work to be a friend of God, because He will lead me into the next season.
Thanks Liaos for giving me this opportunity to help document this special little munchkin! Looking forward to growing and teaching him :).
